Closing the Barn Door

Well, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.  Barnstable Broadcasting (Long Island Radio Group) has sold their Long Island stations to Connoisseur Media.  The stations involved in the sale were 94-X (94.3 WIGX-FM), K-Joy (98.3 WKJY-FM), B-103 (103.1 WBZO-FM), and WHLI (AM 1100).  I remember when Barnstable purchased the stations years ago in mid-1990s, when purchasing radio stations was all the rage.  They bought more than four stations back then.  Some years later, they started selling them off, one by one.  Now the barn door can be closed.

I started out as a child, then things kind of grew from there.  I spend way too much time around computers and radios, but I do like to take a break once in a while.  I'm not a real doctor, but I played one on the radio in college. A bit later on, I wrote an article that was published in COMPUTE!'s Gazette (Commodore 64/128 magazine). I also think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.

  1. i hope they keep WHLI the way it is because I can just see that station becoming a brokered station or religious station, there are no more regular local AM stations on Long Island
