Membership has its Privileges

Looks like I won’t be getting satellite radio (which I was contemplating last month).  I recently signed up for the Demento Online Club for $14.95/month.  Time will tell if this membership is worthwhile, although I can tell you right now I’ll be enjoying the on-demand internet streams in stereo (the $2 stream is in mono).  The online chats may be interesting, even if only as just a casual observer.

I am a fan of the subscription service. I don’t mind paying for content, just don’t fill it with advertising while still charging me! I hate that XM is only commercial free on the basic 20 or so stations while I have to bear Ads for Dick Size and Investor Ponzi schemes, and the worst, ads for Oprah an Friends on XM channel something or other. I don’t mind a cross plug that might interest me, but Oprah & Friends on the eXplicit Language Comedy channel? That uplifting Politically Corrected stuff is not for this demographic. Why XM? WHY?

Jim: When you say “subscription service” do you mean the D.O.C. or XM? I know you have XM, just wasn’t sure if you had the other.

I am talking about subscriptions in general when compared to ad supported services. I do have XM. I do not have demento.
